PWC: Info and Meteo for thuersday

Martin Scheel, 8. May 2024
We are going to Grindelwald. Departure 8:04 from Interlaken Ost. - Shuttle from the camperspace 7:30 on time to the railway station Ost - we will bring the tickets to Interlaken Ost station - we will transport the equipment, which is at HQ, to Grindelwald main road 30 metres below the valley station - Lunch at the valley station - Briefing at the take-off site after announcement on Whatsapp. Attention: The north-easterly wind is worrying us. A model (Cosmo 1) makes early downwind in Grindelwald. I will check the situation again early in the morning and confirm whether we are going to Grindelwald. If not, we'll go back to Amisbüel. I'm sorry, but the weather situation is really difficult to predict. Meteo ********* Switzerland lies on the south edge of a high with a centre over England. Extensive cloud fields until midday, partly also in the form of spreading through a mostly weak inversion at around 2300 metres. In the afternoon, with the exception of the prealps, it will become increasingly sunny with moderate to good, but often disrupted thermals due to moderate bise. Along the prealps, the residual moisture between 1800-3000 m will probably remain until the evening. The residual moisture will therefore be pushed towards the prealps from the Northeast and form extensive low cloud fields. However, the models and we expect that this moisture will not reach Grindelwald and that it will dissolve in the Interlaken area as it warms up, or turn into higher Cumulus clouds. The interpretation of the previtemps seems difficult to me, because the air at the bottom is very humid, and 1500-2000 is quite stable air (dispersion possible). Shortly for 14 o'clock: Grindelwald: 1-3/8 to 2500 (according to Previtemp 2800) Interlaken: 2-4/8 at 1800 (according to Previtemp 2400) Moderate thermals Wind Grindelwald: Ground to 1500m valley wind system from westerly directions, weak 2000-2500m little wind 3000m 10kmh SE 4000m 20kmh NE Interlaken: Ground: valley wind from the west, 15-25 1500m 5-10kmh NE 2000m 10kmh NE 3000m 20kmh E 4000m 30kmh NE

PWC: Interessanter Task nach Regen und warten: Fabrice Thiébaud gewinnt mit 5 Min Vorsprung

Martin Scheel, 5. May 2024
PWC: Meteo and Infos Sunday

Martin Scheel, 5. May 2024
We go to the Amisbüel Take Off. Busses leave 9:05, 2 x 9:35, 1 x 10:05 from INTERLAKEN WEST, Bahnhof Briefing 10:45 at Howald-Parking Take Off around 12:15-14h METEO On Sunday, the Alpine region will lie on the front of a low pressure zone over north-west Europe in a moderately humid and mild south-westerly current. Tonight, a low pressure system over the Benelux countries brought more humid air to the north-west half of Switzerland in particular. The current rain is evidence of this. After a brief period of calm, Switzerland will once again be under the influence of a new low pressure system with its centre over Brittany on Sunday evening and humid and unstable stratified air will flow towards us. A cold front crosses Switzerland on Monday. Light rain until about 9 am Clearing from 10 am With the radiation we expect: Interlaken 2-3/8, base rising to 1800m at 15 pm (theoretically higher, but I don't believe) Above that 2-6/8 AC to 3200 Very low air pressure (1013). In the course of the afternoon first isolated developments (some from 1600), in the evening widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms We can hope for a window of usable conditions from 11am to 3pm - but the wind is strong: The higher and the further west, the stronger the wind. Interlaken Ground: rather weak valley wind system, getting stronger in the afternoon, 10-20 kmh W 1500m 10 kmh W 2000m 20 kmh WSW 2500m 25 kmh SW 3000m 35 kmh SW Further West it is stronger.
